The term “tools” refers to a range of resource materials that can help proponents understand the review process and prepare high quality applications for project review.
Acts and regulations, having statutory authority, are presented separately from various types of guidelines. Acts and regulations are listed in Section 2.1.
The tools are also sorted for their geographical relevance. Section 2.2 includes “core” tools (policies, guidelines and best management practices) that may be relevant to any project. The tools listed in sections 2.3 and 2.4 are geared specifically to either Burrard Inlet or the Fraser River estuary, respectively. In the print version, tools are listed in alphabetical order; however, on-line the tools may be sorted using keyword searches.
Section 2.1 Acts and Regulations This section includes the core pieces of legislation for environmental assessment and environmental protection.
Section 2.2 Policies, Guidelines and Best Management Practices that May Apply to Projects in Both Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River Estuary Section 2.2 includes core tools that can provide applicants with guidance on environmental issues and practices. The majority of tools fall into this category, making Section 2.2 the largest component of Tools for Coordinated Project Review.
Section 2.3 Policies, Guidelines and Best Management Practices that May Apply to Projects in Burrard Inlet This section includes resource materials with particular relevance to proposals that affect Burrard Inlet.
Section 2.4 Policies, Guidelines and Best Management Practices that May Apply to Projects in the Fraser River Estuary This section includes resource materials with particular relevance to proposals in the Fraser River estuary.
