In the summer of 2006, FREMP began a project to ground-truth the 2003 FREMP habitat inventory polygons. Efforts will verify the accuracy of the polygon classifications and help to supplement the habitat inventory database, for example through the identification of dominant species. The project is being undertaken with support from the BC Conservation Corps, a program coordinated by the BC Ministry of Environment and operated out of the BC Conservation Foundation (BCCF). A two-person team is working in the field from early May until October on this project, with the FREMP office providing coordination support.

FREMP
20th Anniversary Celebration!
On September 22, 2005, the FREMP partnership celebrated 20 years.
Partners, former staff, stakeholders and other invited guests marked
a milestone for the "living, working river"! MC Capt. Allen
Domaas and guest speaker Ken Cameron provided a wonderful program
that celebrated the partnership. We all had a wonderful time and wish

On
May 4, 2007, local MLAs John Nuraney (Burnaby-Willingdon) and Richard Lee (Burnaby-North) presented the BC Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection (MWLAP) annual contribution of $45,000 and an additional $55,000 for specific projects with the GVRD, to BIEAP and FREMP Management Committee Vice Chair, Pat Weber, FRPA and the BIEAP/FREMP staff. - March/05
