> Coordinated Project Review
Known
as the Coordinated Project Review Process, the partners collectively
review proposals before a federal, provincial or municipal authority
makes any decision that would allow the project to proceed.
BIEAP and FREMP use a two-track process to review projects in Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River Estuary. Track 1 projects (of a predictable nature with little or no impact) are dealt with by the Lead Agencies (i.e. Port Authorities). Track 2 projects (projects of a more complex nature with potential impacts) are reviewed by the BIEAP and FREMP environmental review committees. Projects subject to both BCEAA and CEAA are reviewed outside of BIEAP and FREMP under a separate harmonized review process.
Projects that do not fall into the Track 1, Track 2 or BCEAA/CEAA harmonized review processes will be discussed and an appropriate review path will be decided on by the Environmental Review Committee or the Management Committee where it is beyond the scope of the environmental review committees.
Note:
Please note that BERC tries to complete Track 2 reviews in under
30-business days, but reviews may take longer due to a project's
complexity.
